Villa Monteverdi
Balcón al Mar, Jávea · Completed June 2021
The old house, kept — and reawakened.
This villa stands a step away from our Villa Cap Negre. One of the most important aspects of the project was preserving the essence of the old house, which still held the Mediterranean architecture of the area.
The main bedroom, with its own upper terrace and sea views, is one of the most surprising pieces of the project. By the pool, a summer lounge and a garden full of native plants complete each other and create somewhere genuinely unique.
The transformation
What it was.
What we drew.
What it is.
The old house still held the Mediterranean architecture of the area, and losing that was never an option. The round tower stayed exactly where it was.
Everything around it was rebuilt, opened up and rendered white — and the main bedroom gained its own terrace over the sea.
The drawing, and the photograph.
Same tower, same roof terrace, same railing. One of these two images is a render from before the works started. It is not obvious which.
